Barcode Solutions has previously been selling GS1 prefixes to their customers. This is a common problem with barcode resellers and causes huge problems for customers. Barcode Solutions is now having to contact customers and request that they print different barcodes on their products. Many of these customers will have printed thousands or tens of thousands of their products with incorrect barcodes – this is obviously expensive and time consuming for the customer.

No barcode reseller can sell GS1 company prefixes. This is common knowledge, and very easy to find out. Hence, it seems like a massive oversight at the very least or more cynically a deliberate misleading of customers because they thought they could get away with it, and make a quick profit.

While it is good that they are now trying to correct the situation (to some extent), it still doesn’t excuse the fact that customers were misled by this company to the extent that it cost them, time, money and product appearance quality (having sticky labels stuck over the original barcode). Furthermore, it is difficult to say whether or not they will be honest with customers from here on out, especially if they think they can get away with being less than truthful.

It can also be seen on their website that the images they display of their retail barcodes are still the ones with the GS1 company prefixes which seems to be misleading.

Overall it seems that this company shouldn’t be trusted. There are plenty of reputable barcode resellers out there that offer barcodes for a reasonable price. It looks like it would be better to go with another option on this one.
