These are a couple of websites (domain names EAN-13.com and UPC-A.com) that have a variety of misleading information on their website. These sites shouldn’t be trusted at all. The site barcode.co.uk also seems to be related to these and has the same associated issues.
The Issues:
- These sites suggest that they can provide ’50’ numbers. These numbers can only be legally supplied by GS1 UK. It is unclear as to whether they are providing these numbers illegally, or whether they merely intend to trick customers into purchasing by pretending to have these numbers.
- They say that all stores accept their barcodes. They also specifically mention ASDA and Walmart – neither of which will accept their barcodes.
- Difficult to contact. While they do have a phone number available on their website, it is unlikely that they will answer or be very useful over the phone. They don’t seem to have an email address or any information about the owners on their website.
